EMRALD KARAN contains the fungus Verticillium lacanii. It is an insect pathogenic fungus. The spores of Emrald Karan are slimy and attach to the cuticle of insects. The fungus infects insects by producing hyphae from germinating spores that penetrate the insect’s intestine; the fungus then destroys the internal contents and the insect dies in about 5-7 days. Even after the death of the target insects the fungus multiplies on the infected dead insects paving the way for establishment of the fungus in the field and preventing further attacks.
